Martyrdom of Saint Jacinto María Castañeda, presbyter, and Saint Vicente Liem, priest.
Saint Jacinto María Castañeda was born in Jativa (Valencia) in the middle of the 18th century. He joined the monastery of the Order of Preachers (Dominicans) in Jativa when he was very young. He requested to be sent to the most remote regions of Asia and he was joined to the province of the Holy Rosary in the Philippines. While he was preaching the Gospel in China, he was arrested and prosecuted and, later, at the age of 30 years old, he suffered the martyrdom together with the brother of the same order Vincent Liem. Pope Saint Pius X beatified him as well as the aforementioned Vicente Liem and another six friars of the Order of Saint Dominic. Pope John Paul II declared Saints to these martyrs, canonizing them on 19th June 1988. The liturgical memory of Saint Jacinto María is celebrated on 7th November.
