Key information
Chapel of the Holy Chalice
Chapel
The chapel has square floor and plain walls of carved stone. It measures 13 metres wide by 16 metres high, and it displays a high rib vault with stellar shape, whose ribs are lengthened until they rest in the polychrome corbels.
In the bosses of the vault we find the twelve Apostles and in the central boss we see the Coronation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Heaven after the Assumption, which is the main mystery of this Cathedral.
Reredos of alabaster

In this frame, the twelve reliefs stand out, made by the Florentin Giuliano Poggibonsi (disciple of Ghiberti, Gates of Paradise, Florence). They are considered as one of the first works of the Renaissance in Spain. The scenes below belong to the Old Testament and they are prophecy of the upper ones, from the New Testament.
