José Vergara gave the painting to the Cathedral in 1790 because the painter was born on the day of the memory of this saint, together with the Martyrdom of Saint Vincent, placed on the other side of the door.

Martyrdom of Saint Erasmus.

Saint Erasmus was Bishop of Antioquia, in Syria. He was a martyr in the Great Persecution of Emperor Diocletian at the beginning of the 4th century. His feast day is on 2th June.

The Valencia Cathedral Museum is open from Monday to Saturday, from 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM, and on Sundays and public holidays from 2:00 PM to 6:30 PM or from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM, depending on the application of winter or summer hours.

Bell Tower "Miguelete"

From 1 March to 30 November

The bell tower “el Miguelete” is open in summer (from March 1 to November 30) Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 18:45 h., and Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 to 18:45 h.

Masses

From 1 to 31 August

The Masses in the Cathedral during the summer season are held on Sundays and holidays at 8:00 AM, 10:00 AM, 11:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 7:00 PM, and 8:00 PM Saturdays and vigils at 8:00 AM, 10:00 AM, 7:00 PM, and 8:00 PM. Weekdays at 8:00 AM, 10:00 AM, and 8:00 PM. The Thursday Mass at 20:00 h. for the Holy Chalice is suspended. It is replaced by a regular Mass. It will resume on September 15th.

Pastoral Office

From 1 to 8 August

The pastoral office opens from August 1 to 8, Fridays from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM. (closed for the rest of the month)

From 9 to 31 August

The pastoral office is closed from August 9 to 31.

Valencia Cathedral Archive

From 1 January to 31 December

The archive is open in the mornings on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM, and on Wednesdays also in the afternoon from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and is open from September 15 to July 15.
