Apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary Oil by Vicente Inglés
(+ Valencia 1821)
Apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary to Saint Vincent Ferrer.
Saint Vincent Ferrer was born in Valencia in 1350 and he was baptised in the Saint Stephan parish. He was a member of the Order of Preachers (Dominicans). He taught Philosophy and Theology in this city – in the current chapel of the Holy Chalice of the Cathedral – and in other places. As a preacher, he travelled to many regions of Spain and Europe, as much in the defence of the true Faith and the Unity of the Church, as in favour of the peace between people and the reform of traditions. He died in Vannes (Brittany, France) on 5th April 1419 and his relics are kept there. He is the Patron Saint of the Valencian Community. His feast day is celebrated on the Monday after the second Sunday of Easter.
