1.3. The Rose Window

The Rose Window in the Apostles' Door

Location

The Rose Window

Introduction

Forming a body apart of such a beautiful façade, there is a circular rose window, measuring 6.45 m. in diameter.

The Gothic Rose Window

The Rose Window

It is an admirable work, with a slender and solid composition at the same time, having the elegance of an ornament, the consistency of a wall, the delicacy of a Gothic filigree and the robustness of a Romanesque construction.

The Rose Window from the roof

From inside

The rose window illuminates one of the transepts of the church and still preserves remains of the old stained glass that used to beautify it.

The rose window from inside

It was called “the Solomon” indicating its complicated structure and for housing the “Star of King David”. Thus Jesus was acclaimed as the Messiah and “Son of David”, born in the “Mystical Rose” Mary.
