Preserve, research, and restore
Eight centuries of faith, history, art, and traditionThe Cathedral of Valencia is the mother church of the Archdiocese of Valencia and the seat of the archbishop.
Numerous significant celebrations for the Valencian Catholics and society in general take place here. Faithful from around the world make pilgrimages to see the Holy Chalice of the Lord’s Supper, kept in its chapel within a 15th-century alabaster altarpiece.

Each year, hundreds of pregnant women come to walk nine times around the Cathedral and pray to Our Lady of Safe Delivery, in a deeply rooted tradition. You can also pay homage to significant Passion relics, like the Lignum Crucis of King Martin the Humane or the Thorn of Saint Louis.

The layering of architectural styles throughout its long history makes this Cathedral a unique and almost unparalleled site.
Its remarkable art collection includes masterpieces by world-renowned artists such as Juan de Juanes, Francisco de Goya, Vicente López, and the Hernandos. Highlights include the Renaissance frescoes of the Musical Angels, the doors of the main altarpiece, and the monumental processional monstrance—the largest in the world.
