The visit
He was welcomed by the Chapter at the “Iron Gates” and, once inside, he addressed a few words and his benediction to the members of the groups of the Diocesan Synod then ongoing that crowded the metropolitan church.

With the Holy Chalice
On the main altar was the Holy Chalice of the Lord’s Supper, which the Pope reverently kissed and then signed in the Book of Honour of the Confraternity.
The Holy Father then made a brief visit to the Basilica of Our Lady of the Forsaken and blessed the sick in the Virgin Square.
Eucharist in the Alameda
Shortly after, he presided the Eucharist on the Paseo de la Alameda, in which he ordained 150 priests using the Holy Chalice, in an unprecedented act since ancient times.
