Presentation of the Jubilee Year

21 October 2025

Opening address of the Third Holy Chalice Jubilee Year

On October 21st, 2025, the Visitor Reception Centre at the Almudín hosted the official presentation of the Third Jubilee Year of the Holy Chalice. The Mayor of Valencia, María José Catalá, and the Archbishop, Monsignor Enrique Benavent, inaugurated an event that brings together spiritual tradition and cultural projection for the city.

The theme “Chalice of Hope” shaped the event. As the Archbishop noted, this hope “is not superficial optimism, but a guarantee in the face of life’s difficulties.” In a world marked by uncertainty, the Holy Grail was presented as a symbol of communion, dialogue, and bridge-building between people and nations.

«The Holy Chalice is a sign of communion that invites unity and dialogue. Hope is one of the things our world needs most at this moment.»
— Mons. Enrique Benavent, Archbishop of Valencia

The presentation highlighted that this Jubilee Year is an opportunity to showcase the relic in its multiple dimensions: cultural, tourist, and pilgrimage-related, and above all as a time for reflection and personal and spiritual enrichment rooted in the deepest Christian values.

The opening of the Almudín Center marked the beginning of a programme combining research, outreach, and initiatives for welcoming pilgrims. Valencia thus reaffirmed its identity as the city of the Holy Grail, custodian of one of Christianity’s most important relics and bearer of a message of hope for all humanity.
