The Worship

The Holy Chalice of the Lord's Supper

The Veneration of the Holy Grail

Tradition tells us that it is the same cup that the Lord used at the Last Supper. Both the Royal Brotherhood and the Confraternity of the Holy Chalice promote the worship of Jesus Christ, High and Eternal Priest, through the veneration of the sacred vessel in which He sacramentally delivered his redeeming blood at the Last Supper.

Thursday of the Holy Chalice

Thursday evenings

  • At 19:30 the Blessed Sacrament is exposed and the Rosary is prayed.
  • At 19:45 the acclamations to the Holy Chalice are sung and the blessing is given with the Blessed Sacrament.

Later the Holy Mass is celebrated with singing accompanied by the organ.

Parishes and religious and civic associations go on a pilgrimage every “Thursday of the Holy Chalice” to participate in this Mass.

The Holy Chalice on the Altar

On Holy Thursday, the Holy Chalice is taken to the high altar of the Cathedral in the procession for the entrance of the Mass in the Lord’s Supper, just as in the “Annual Feast of the Holy Chalice”, celebrated on the last Thursday of October.
