With the cardinal archbishop emeritus of Valencia Mr. Agust\u00edn Garc\u00eda-Gasco Vicente<\/strong> (1992-2011), our Church celebrated with great spiritual benefit the great Jubilee of 2000<\/strong> and the Seventh Centenary of the martyrdom of Saint Vincent<\/strong> (2004).<\/p>\n

Our Church has been enriched with works of great cultural and religious importance, such as the creation of higher education centres CEU Cardenal Herrera University<\/strong> (2000),Saint Vincent Martyr Catholic University<\/strong> (2003) and the construction of new temples in the capital and towns of the archdiocese.<\/p>\n

Starting in 1999, in collaboration with the Valencian Generalitat, different and magnificent exhibitions of religious art were held in cathedrals and churches of the Valencian Community under the motto The Light of Images<\/strong> that show the importance and religious significance of our historical heritage. At the same time, they have meant the complete restoration of their venues, starting with the cathedrals of Valencia<\/strong> (1999), Segorbe<\/strong> (2001), Orihuela<\/strong> (2003), the parish of Saint Matthew, in Castell\u00f3n<\/strong> and the diocese of Tortosa<\/strong> (2005), Alicante<\/strong> (2006) and X\u00e1tiva<\/strong> (2007), followed by others including the cathedral f Alcoy in 2011.<\/p>\n

The promotion of family pastoral care on a firm doctrinal basis has led to the creation in Valencia of a section of the John Paul II Pontifical Institute for the family in 1994, and then the Valencian Institute of Canon Law<\/strong> (2000); This continuous defense of the family and of life and the wealth of activities that take place for this reason was one of the causes that motivated the choice of Valencia by John Paul II<\/strong> to host the Fifth World Meeting of Families<\/strong> on 8th and 9th July 2006, which was presided over by Pope Benedict XVI<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
