The old Chapter House<\/h2>\n

The old Chapter House was built under the order of Bishop Vidal de Blanes between 1365 and 1369. It was place for celebration of the Courts of the Kingdom and Theology classes by Saint Vincent Ferrer, among others.<\/p>\n

In 1916 the Holy Chalice was moved to the chapter house, its current chapel.<\/p>\n

The chapel is in a flowery Gothic style (14th century); It has a square plan and plain walls of carved stone.<\/p>\n

The twelve apostles are in the peripheral keystones of the vault, and in the central keystone, the coronation of the Virgin Mary in heaven after the Assumption, main mistery of this Cathedral.<\/p>\n

The front door and the passageway<\/h3>\n

When the naves were extended in the 15th century to reach the bell tower and the chapter room, the architect Pere Compte<\/strong>, also author of the Lonja de Valencia, built the passageway to the old chapter house in 1496.<\/p>\n

On one side of the corridor you can see, among others, the funerary monument of Bishop Vidal de Planes<\/strong>, driving force of the construction of the Chapter House and the \u201cAdoration of the shepherds\u201d<\/em>, a fresco painting (1472) by Francesco Pagano de Neapoli<\/strong> and Paolo de San Leocadio<\/strong>, of the Chapter House, passed onto canvas, which was the decoration testing for the main chapel.<\/p>\n
