The Bells<\/h3>\n

In the belfry of the \u201cCampanar Nou\u201d (New Bell Tower)<\/em> are the two bells of the clock: the dels Quarts, from 1736 and the Micalet, from 1539, a bell destined exclusively to ring the hours, and the largest in use in the entire old Crown of Aragon, with a weight of 7,514 Kgr.<\/p>\n

In the Hall of Bells<\/strong> there are eleven, from the first moment of the construction of the building. In medieval times they spoke of \u201cels cinc senys i les sis morlanes\u201d;<\/em> in more recent times of \u201cthe big five and the six tiples\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n

They are still used for the various daily, festive, dead, and extraordinary signs.<\/p>\n

The oldest is Caterina<\/strong>, from 1305, the most antique bell in use in the entire Crown of Aragon so far, while the newest is Violant<\/strong>, from 1735. The other tiples are \u00darsula<\/strong>, from 1438, B\u00e0rbera<\/strong>, from 1681, Pau<\/strong>, from 1489 and Arc\u00eds<\/strong> from 1529.<\/p>\n

Of the large ones, Vicent<\/strong> is from 1569, Andreu<\/strong> from 1604, Manuel<\/strong> from 1621, Jaume<\/strong> from 1429 and Maria<\/strong> from 1544. These last two are the largest, with 1,750 and 1,765 Kgr. respectively.<\/p>\n

It is one of the most numerous sets of Gothic bells in all of Spain.<\/h3>\n

The only automated bells are dels Quarts<\/strong> and the Micalet<\/strong> for the time; B\u00e0rbera<\/strong>, for the daily choir ringing, as well as Manuel<\/strong> for the ringing of the walls closing and Maria for the prayers.<\/p>\n
