The Metropolitan Chapter<\/h2>\n

The Chapter of the Valencia Metropolitan Cathedral has a glorious history of chapter members whose priestly spirit of generous devotion and love to the Diocesan Church has had an important influence on the spiritual and scientific education of the diocesan clergy and an invariable and faithful cooperation with its Archbishop in the Diocese management.<\/p>\n

Pope Innocent VIII<\/strong> granted the category of Metropolitan Chapter<\/strong> by elevating the Cathedral to this dignity, on July 9, 1492<\/em>. The structure, remained until the present day, was acquired under the concordat of 1851<\/em><\/a>, agreed between Spain<\/strong> and the Holy See<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The archbishop<\/strong> is responsible for presiding over the most solemn liturgical actions. The Chapter<\/strong> assists him in the celebrations in the Cathedral or in any other place, at his request.<\/p>\n

The daily choral worship consists of Lauds<\/em>, Holy Mass<\/em>, Intermediate Hour<\/em> and also Vespers in certain solemnities. The day of the Lord and more liturgical ceremonies are celebrated as deserved, trying to facilitate the active participation of the faithful.<\/p>\n
